🌮 Taco Tuesday 🌮

By Mrs. Clay

It started with a simple request from my oldest — “Mama, can we have a monthly Taco Tuesday ?”

And so, with that, the first Tuesday of every month became Taco Tuesday at our house. Over time, it’s turned into one of our favorite family traditions — full of laughter, good food, and a little bit of friendly competition over who can make the “best taco.”

🏡 Why I Love Taco Tuesday

I must admit, it’s such a relief to have at least one dinner a month where the menu is already decided. No digging through recipes, no last-minute grocery brainstorming — just pure anticipation for a meal everyone loves.

It’s funny how something so simple can take a load off the week. That first Tuesday rolls around, and I breathe a little easier knowing dinner practically makes itself (well… almost).

🌯 Our Taco Tuesday Menu

We’ve experimented and tweaked things over the months until we found the perfect rhythm — a little homemade, a little messy, and a lot delicious:

  • Beef and Chicken Soft Tacos — seasoned just right, piled high with lettuce, cheese, and fresh pico.
  • Mexican Rice — fluffy and flavorful, cooked low and slow with a hint of tomato and spice.
  • Homemade Queso — creamy, rich, and just the right amount of kick.
  • Refried Beans — because no taco plate is complete without them.
  • Fried Ice Cream — yes, it’s surprisingly easy! A crispy golden shell with cool, creamy vanilla inside — the perfect ending to taco night.

💡 Tips for a Smooth Taco Tuesday

  • Prep ahead: Brown your meat and chop toppings earlier in the day. Dinner will come together in minutes.
  • Make it interactive: Set out a taco bar so everyone can build their own.
  • Double up: Leftovers make perfect taco salads or quesadillas the next day.
  • Keep it fun: Add themed music, colorful plates, or a new topping each month to keep things exciting.

🫶 A Tradition Worth Keeping

Our first-Tuesday Taco Tuesdays have become more than just dinner — they’re a moment to gather, laugh, and slow down together. It’s proof that traditions don’t have to be elaborate or expensive to be meaningful.

Sometimes, it’s as simple as a plate of tacos, a table full of family, and the sweet feeling of knowing what’s for dinner — for once. 🌮💛
