🦃 Thanksgiving Made Easy 🦃
Day 3
A Calm Home Sets the Stage

Good morning, friends 💛
Hopefully, your Thanksgiving Notebook is starting to feel like a faithful little helper. You’ve begun shaping your menu — those delicious plans that are already filling your heart (and imagination) with warmth — and you can almost hear the hum of the kitchen and the clink of serving spoons to come. Your guest list is complete and any dishes they are bringing are noted. You are well on your way to a peaceful and special Thanksgiving.
Today, we’re stepping into something just as important as the food itself: the space that holds it all.
Before the cooking begins, there’s something grounding about tending to our homes — setting things in order, fluffing the pillows, and creating little pockets of calm that say welcome.
The truth is, Thanksgiving is about so much more than a perfect table or spotless counters. It’s about preparing an atmosphere where people feel loved. Where conversation lingers and laughter echoes long after the dishes are done. So today, we’ll start the simple, doable work of making space for the joy that’s on its way.
To aid in your journey to creating that space for joy, we have prepared a new page for your Thanksgiving Notebook. It has been intentionally left blank with just lines for you to fill in your unique needs.

Cleaning & Prep Schedule
Use this page in your Thanksgiving Notebook to sketch, jot notes, or list items you’ll use for your centerpiece, linens, dishes, and lighting. It’s designed in the warm, neutral farmhouse palette you love — simple, printable, and peaceful.
🧽 Today’s Gentle Task: The Cleaning & Prep Schedule
Now that you’ve printed your Cleaning & Prep Schedule page, pour yourself a cup of tea and grab your favorite pen — it’s time to fill it in. This isn’t a rush-through-the-house kind of cleaning. Think of it instead as preparing your home to welcome gratitude.
A few calm ideas to guide your day:
- Start with your kitchen — it’s the heart of the celebration. Wipe the counters, check your oven, and take a quick peek in your pantry. Make sure your spices are ready and your baking pans are easy to reach.
- Tidy your gathering spaces — fluff the pillows, dust the side tables, and clear away anything that doesn’t need to live there right now. You’re making room for laughter, stories, and second helpings.
- Tend to the details — fresh towels in the guest bathroom, a candle near the entryway, a little vase of flowers or greenery by the sink. Small touches make a world of difference.
- Do one small load of laundry — table linens, napkins, or dish towels. Let them air dry or fold them neatly away for the big day.
There’s no need to rush — this is a slow, steady kind of progress. Just as we’ve been building our Thanksgiving Notebook page by page, we’ll now create peace in our homes, one gentle task at a time.
As you move through the day, open a window if the weather allows. Let the crisp air and the scent of autumn remind you why you’re doing all this. This isn’t about perfection. It’s about preparation — the quiet kind that fills a home with heart.
🌸 Mrs. Clay’s Tip:
Keep your Cleaning & Prep Schedule tucked in the front of your notebook this week. Each time you check something off, you’ll feel that little ripple of calm — proof that you’re creating not just a meal, but a moment of peace for everyone you love. Remember, this doesn’t all have to be done today. You are creating a schedule. You may choose to prep and clean rooms that aren’t as busy now and save your more utilized rooms like your family room and kitchen for closer to the big day. Perhaps, you will do the deep cleaning for those rooms now, like wipe baseboards or blinds now so that just the light touches can be done closer to Thanksgiving. You know your home. Set your schedule for what works for you.
💛 A Thought to Close the Day
Cleaning isn’t just about what you see—it’s about creating a space that feels calm and welcoming. Every little chore is a quiet way of caring for yourself and the home that holds your life’s memories, making room for peace, clarity, and the moments that matter most.
🍁 Coming Tomorrow:
Tomorrow, we’ll turn our attention to the Table Décor Planner — a lovely way to gather ideas for centerpieces, linens, and candles that make your table glow with warmth. Because the table is more than where we eat — it’s where we connect, give thanks, and make memories.
Bit by bit, day by day, we’re crafting a Thanksgiving filled with gratitude — not hurry. 🍂
