Mrs. Clay’s “Bless This Mess” Spray 🌸

❤️ Sometimes the best homemaking tricks are the simple ones passed around between busy kitchens, overflowing laundry baskets, sticky counters, and everyday family life. This homemade cleaner has become one of my favorite little helpers for cutting grease, shining surfaces, and freshening up the house without needing a cabinet full of products.

Because sometimes all you can do is bless the mess… and spray it. 🌸

🍲 Step-by-Step with Mrs. Clay

Start with a clean spray bottle.

Add the warm water first, followed by the Blue Dawn dish liquid. Slowly pour in the isopropyl alcohol and distilled white vinegar.

Gently swirl or tip the bottle back and forth to combine. Try not to shake vigorously, or you’ll end up with lots of foam.

Spray onto surfaces and wipe clean with a soft cloth or paper towel.

🌸 Mrs. Clay’s Tip

This cleaner works beautifully for everyday household messes, greasy stovetops, bathroom counters, mirrors, sinks, shower surfaces, and even laundry pretreating. The Blue Dawn helps cut grease while the vinegar leaves surfaces shiny and fresh.

🥄 Places I Personally Avoid Using Vinegar-Based Cleaners
Because vinegar is acidic, I would avoid using this cleaner on:

  • Natural stone surfaces like granite, marble, or quartzite
  • Unsealed stone or grout
  • Hardwood floors with delicate finishes
  • Waxed furniture
  • Cast iron
  • Aluminum surfaces
  • Electronic screens or televisions

For dishes:

  • perfectly fine for handwashing and degreasing

For laundry:

  • great as a spot treatment for greasy stains
  • avoid mixing directly with bleach products

A Thought to Close the Day

There’s something comforting about finding simple ways to care for a home and family with what you already have on hand.
