Mrs. Clay’s Everyday All-Purpose Seasoning

A simple bulk blend for the meals we make again and again

❤️ Why This Post Exists

There are seasons of cooking when I want a new recipe every night…
and seasons when I just want dinner to come together gently.

This seasoning was born in one of those quieter seasons — when I needed something reliable in the pantry that could step in without much thought. The kind of blend you can reach for while browning meat, roasting vegetables, or seasoning a pot that’s already simmering on the stove.

It isn’t bold or spicy.
It doesn’t shout.

It’s meant to support the food you’re making — not take it over.

I like keeping it mixed in bulk, tucked into a small jar, ready whenever the kitchen needs a steady hand.

🧂 What This Seasoning Is (and Isn’t)

This is:

  • Savory
  • Balanced
  • Family-friendly
  • Flexible across proteins and vegetables

It’s not:

  • Salty enough to replace seasoning at the recipe level
  • Spicy
  • Cuisine-specific

Think of it as a foundation, not a finish.

🥄 How I Use This Blend Most Often

  • Ground beef for weeknight dinners
  • Pork chops or pork tenderloin
  • Roasted potatoes and vegetables
  • Soups and stews
  • Breakfast casseroles and bakes

It’s especially helpful when cooking without a recipe — just seasoning by feel.

🌸 Mrs. Clay’s Tip

Because this is a bulk blend, I keep the salt moderate. That way I can season as I go without worrying about overdoing it.

🧂 About Using This Seasoning on Chicken

Chicken is milder than beef or pork, so it needs a little encouragement.

When using this blend on chicken:

  • Use it as a base, not the only seasoning
  • Pair it with a little fat (butter or oil)
  • Add one small supporting note depending on the dish

Easy chicken adaptations:

  • Roasted or baked chicken: add a pinch of paprika or thyme
  • Skillet chicken: add garlic or onion at the pan level
  • Soup or broth: add bay leaf or parsley alongside the seasoning

This keeps the chicken flavorful without changing the blend itself.

From My Recipe Box to Yours

This is the kind of recipe I lean on when life feels full and my hands are already busy.

It doesn’t ask much of me — just a shake here, a pinch there — and somehow that’s enough to carry a meal forward.

I hope it finds a home in your pantry the same way it has in mine.

There’s something comforting about opening the pantry and seeing familiar names on the shelves — little reminders of the meals you make again and again.

You’re welcome to print the label, use it for your own jar, or share it with someone who loves a well-loved pantry staple as much as you do.

🌸 Mrs. Clay’s Tip:
These labels make the sweetest little add-on if you’re gifting a jar of seasoning to a friend, a neighbor, or a child heading out on their own. A homemade blend with a handwritten note goes seen and remembered.

Because sometimes the smallest details make everyday cooking feel just a little more special.

A Thought to Close the Day

Some recipes exist to impress.
Others exist to steady us.

May this little jar on your shelf make dinner feel lighter — and remind you that not every meal needs reinvention to be meaningful.
